A celebration that appeared to me as paintings; the palette of Hammershoi, a blaze of Turner skies and the drama of Caravaggio to finish. Fi had a vision of sculpture for the tables with market garden ingredients; floral arrangements punctuated by tomatoes, garlic, grape. She wore a mirrored dress through the Oudolf field to meet Sam in the pavilion; Vivaldi’s strings dancing above our heads, a disco on the walls ahead of her. A celebration of marriage, of cultures, of art, of languages, of light and reflection, of heart-swelling music and hysterical laughter, of swallows nesting behind the bar, of napkin-swishing and thanksgiving, of radicchio and sunbeams and a brand new baby, all under one egg-shaped roof.
